Merseyside Against Blood Cancers (MABCs)

Merseyside Against Blood Cancers (MABCs), formerly known as The Bloom Appeal, was established in 2014 by healthcare professionals, scientists, patients and carers to support patients, together with their families and carers, as well as staff impacted by blood cancers in our region. Our aims today have been widened to include research into blood cancers and the training of health professionals. This combination of aims makes us unique among established cancer charities.

Their income comes from their own fundraising efforts, as well as from grants from various donors, trusts and foundations and donations. They  have no full-time staff, and have minimal overheads, so almost all the income they raise goes directly towards helping their targeted groups and meeting their aims.

MABCs fundraising activities – sponsored events in the past have included mainly sporting events such as marathons, cycling, and a Santa Dash. Forthcoming events this year include: Afternoon Tea at Hope Street Hotel on June 8th , a Cricket Tournament at Aigburth Cricket Club on June 29th, a Winter Ball on November 14th and a Santa Dash on December 7th.
