President:

The President of Liverpool Hope Students’ Union is elected annually and works full time to represent students on campus. The President is the lead representative of Liverpool Hope University students. Within the role the president is responsible for communicating student views and interests and managing key relationships with a variety of high profile stakeholders. The President is also responsible for running campaigns throughout the year that they believe will benefit the community of students at Hope.

Name:

Neve Rosser

About the role:

This job was an elected position. This meant that I had to put myself forward and create a manifesto surrounding what I would like to achieve on behalf of the students at the university. I was voted in by the student cohort in March 2023 and I officially started the role at the beginning of July 2023. This role encompasses all areas of the union from the sport and society teams, to welfare and education.

More about me:

I studied criminology at Hope and started my involvement with the Union through the sports and societies community. I took on the role of vice captain for the university's competitive cheerleading team and during my time on the committee we saw huge growth and development from the team, which was evident in competition results going from last place in the 2021/22 season to national champions in 2023. Throughout this time was responsible for finances, leadership and events planning which is what inspired me to run as a sabbatical officer for the union.

What are my first priorities?

One of the main points of my manifesto was to improve the access to sexual health services on campus. I have already begun working with local charities and agencies and plan to increase access to testing and contraception facilities on site. Alongside this I have been working towards having an advice nurse regularly visit campus in order to provide safety and assurance for those moving away from home for the first time and for returning students. Another of my first priorities surrounds freshers and getting the ball rolling with regards to activities and events that are being put on for students. I have also started a relationship with an events company and plan on working alongside them and the other universities in Liverpool to arrange a great event and raise money for charity in the process.
