About Ella:

As VP Welfare and Community, I’ll be looking out for different communities at Liverpool Hope, including the community of the overall student body. It is my job to make sure students feel safe and accepted at Hope, and to be a safe space to turn to should you feel that anything needs to change. The SU is here for the students and always have your best interests at heart.

My Priorities:

  • Championing marginalised voices: I’m passionate about making sure all communities feel seen and heard at Hope. I will be constantly working to make Hope a better environment for ALL students.
  • Promoting sustainability: Combating the climate crisis has never been more crucial, and I know it can negatively affect student’s mental health. I will be promoting sustainability for individuals as well as fighting to make meaningful green changes to the institution.
  • Improving access to counselling: As well as continuing to help the brilliant service of Nightline to grow, I wish to work with companies and charities that offer free counselling (such as StopBreatheThink) and raise awareness and funds for them.
  • Listening: Ultimately, I’m here for you! So, my priority will always be to listen to the needs of the students and do everything in my power to make sure their university experience is a positive one.

What I am currently working on:

  • Black History Month planning – as Black History Month is very close to Freshers, I want to make sure we have a head start on the planning, as it is a very important event.
  • Bringing new ideas to the SU (such as a clear report document for student issues).
  • Collaboration with Stop Breathe Think counselling charity, a group that offers free counselling sessions to young people aged 21 and under.
  • Researching other counselling charities that offer free support.
